Hyundai responds on hybrids & Auto Alliance
10/12/05

I was happy to see that Hyundai sent a response to many of those who sent a letter to them regarding their planned introduction of hybrids in the U.S. and their being courted by the reactionary Auto Alliance lobbyist group. Here’s what it had to say:

ConsumerAffairs@hmausa.com
Thank you for your positive feedback regarding Hyundai’s plans for the introduction of hybrid technology to our product line. We appreciate your interest and anticipate that this vehicle will provide a more affordable choice for those customers who are interested in our environment.

With regard to Hyundai’s interest in joining the Auto Alliance, again, we thank you for sharing with us your concerns regarding that organization. Although a decision by Hyundai has not been made regarding the Auto Alliance, we can assure you that feedback such as yours will be considered in the final determination. Thank you again for your interest in these most important issues.

Makes me all the more curious to see what their hybrid will do/cost when they roll it out next year. And while a bit non-committal on the Auto Alliance, I do believe them when they say that letters like these will play part in their decision-making. For, as the old saying goes, the customer is always right.

I’ll let you know if and when we hear anything similar from Nissan.
